Success at Dolce!

MT Alpha is so VERY HOT right now!!!

Last night at Caffe Dolce was a huge success! We raised some money, enjoyed great food and drink and spent an amazing evening in the company of an amazing community. The majority of the team was able to make it for the event and damn, they were looking fine!

But don't let these sweet smiles and legs for days fool you, these ladies are a force to be reckoned with on the mtb trail. Next stop Bavarian bike and brews in Washington. Lookout Leavenworth, here come the Alphas!

Dolce deserves a HUGE thank you for accommodating us and being such an amazing sponsor.  We are so grateful to have you guys on our jerseys!

Tomorrow at Dolce

. . .at 6 pm until 9 pm we are going to rocking the house at Caffe Dolce.  You should probably show up.  Here's the low down:

Caffe Dolce, because they are so awesome, is donating 10% of ALL dinner  profits that night to MT Alpha.  Whoa! This is so huge, especially because we know how much our bike racing friends LOVE wine.  :)

An anonymous donor (hint: he's probably going to be going to the UK this August) gave us a sweet sweet M/L cross bike frame to auction off. He's going to be there so you can ask him just how awesome this frame is.  Check it out-

Are you sick of riding that clucking, old, hard-to-shoulder bike at Rolling Thunder?  Are you ready to get rid of that fixie and get a real bike? Yeah you are. Win the bid on this frame.  I promise you'll go way faster and look way cooler.  The suggested retail price is $750. We're starting bidding at $50.

But wait! There's so much more.

Alpine Physical Therapy and their seriously magical skills have generously donated a bike fit AND a runners clinic.  These guys know their shit and are, hands down, the best PT clinic in town.
Hands. Down.
The bike fit involves lasers and plumb bobs and weird looking rulers and results in a superior bike fit worth more than the bike you're riding.
The runners clinic involves cameras and slow motion and an in depth look at your gate. The result: preventative physical therapy and less injuries!  Killer.

Still more.

Jennifer Bardsley, MT Alpha racer and artist, has graciously given us some prints of her beautiful bike art work.  They are amazing and would look amazing on your walls.  Take down that Grateful Dead poster and buy some art.  Come on.  Its time.

More?  Yes.

Clark Fork Dental (the best dental clinic in town) is giving us something special too.  You're going to have to come to Dolce tomorrow night to find out what it is (it's probably not going to be a bucket of candy. Sorry kids).

Auction ends at 8:30. Make sure you get your last bid in before then!

You're probably wondering where is all of this money (and I think we might make a lot!) going?  Get this:  MT Alpha is putting on a SUPER D!  Yes! Thats right.  We are putting on a Super D series at Marshall for 3 weeks after the Hammer Nutrition Missoula XC- extending the Wednesday night beer league in a bad ass kind of way. AND at these Wednesday nights, we're putting on a KIDS CLINIC during the race where we'll be teaching kiddies essential technical skills and showing them just how cool bike racing is.  The last race will also include a kids race so they can show off their sweet new mtb skills.
Also, we're putting on a girls only mountain bike camp in August. It's going to include sweet scavenger hunts, picnics and breakfast, and bikes!  Check back here soon for more info.  In the mean time psych yourself up for the Super D races and talk to your kids about our clinics and camps.

Lastly, MT Alpha is going to be there in pretty black dresses and beautiful jewel earrings (thank you Betty's!) to mingle with you and convince you to order another bottle of wine and dessert.  The more you eat and drink the more we make and the more we can give back!
We can't wait to see you tomorrow night!  Remember: Get some dinner from 6-9 pm and put your last bid in before 8:30.  Want to meet the racers?  Look for the beautiful ladies with jewels in our ears!

Meet MT Alpha: Julie Kubik

We found her in the Rattlesnake. She humored us by riding up sawmill road, then dropped us like we were cat 1's who upgraded too soon once we hit single track.  She was gone until we saw her riding back UP Drop Out on our way down.
She's legit.  And strong.  And seriously modest.  I stopped her on her climb and forced her to give me her email address.  Now, she's one of MT Alpha's strongest riders.

This weekend Julie straight up WON 12 hrs of Disco in Salmon, ID.  She raced solo and completed just as many laps as the team who won the mixed four race and one less lap the the guy who won the solo MEN's race (Ian Foster- another local Missoula rider). Can you say faster than delicate rose, budding in the new sunlight of spring?

Still not convinced she's a killer on a mountain bike?

She won 12 hrs of Disco.... With a broken rib.  A broken rib!  She went down hard 2 weeks ago on overlook and the next day she was out at our Skills Clinic, learning how to bunny hop.  Crazy.  Crazy in the best way possible.

This is the only picture we have of her because she goes too fast for the camera! (Photo: Tom Robertson Photography)
Her and her husband, Russ Blackhurst, move to Missoula a year ago and opened Clark Fork Dental.  He's a dentist and she's a hygienist.  Cute right? And as far as we're concerned it's the best dental clinic in town.

Julie's top tier event this year is the Butte 100 ("the most difficult 100 mile mountain bike race in the country").  I think it's safe to say, who ever is crazy enough to go up against her will have a hell of a time trying to keep up with her and her Specialized full suspension S-Works.  She rides that thing like it's going out of style.  Which it's not.  Great bike.

Anyway, Julie is probably the sweetest, most humble of the Alphas.  Watch out for her next time you're riding in the Snake.  You'll most likely get more than one chance to see her out on your ride because she'll lap you.

Oh and watch out Sportsman's. We still haven't released our secret weapon.

Skills Clinic with the "Godfathers"

"We're going to start from the ground and building up" said Godfather Doug yesterday at MT Alpha's first monthly skills clinic.

The Alphas are seriously lucky to have a set of "Godfathers" or technical coaches.  These Godfathers are local mountain bike "legends" who are willing to share their wisdom with us.  And on Sunday, we got wise on the trail.  Seriously wise.

Manualing, technical climbing and corning were the 3 areas the Godfathers felt we needed to master in order to take the podium at the Hammer Nutrition Missoula Pro XC.  With the improvments we made yesterday, I don't think there's anything stopping us.

Jamie T- mastering the manual :)

Like flowers on Mount Jumbo right now (go check them out, they're beautiful), our ladies are blossoming into serious riders.

But don't be fooled, we're no delecate roses.  These Alphas are getting tough and we're ready to show Scratchgravel a thing or two this Sunday.  See you there.

Meet MT Alpha: Claire Frost

Although she's a fresh face to Missoula mountain biking, Claire is no beginner on the trail.  She rips through Wallman's creek like its going out of style and saves lives at the same time!

Claire is in her final year of med school and as our "almost doctor" she provides a serious breath of inspiration: bike racing AND med school AND a smile on her face?  Whoa.  Thank you for putting our lives in perspective!

We got to spend a solid 3 weeks with Claire while she was in town doing a rotation.  We saw her passion for riding, commitment to MT Alpha and all around excitement to be ripping trail with ladies.  Although she won't be back until June,  we're anticipating some awesome results from this Cat 2 rider.

Her favorite piece of clothing right now?  Her super hot red skinny jeans from Betty's. Go downtown today and check out what Betty's has in shop right now.  "It's like a party in there."

Clarie will be back as soon as she's done saving lives in an ER in Vermont.

Expect her return to come with a bang.

Are you on strava?  Because she is. Check out what she's riding in Vermont.  She'll probably be riding everyday after work.  Because she's super bad ass like that.
